Poor sporting behavior will not be tolerated at any Club Independent (CI), referred to in this document as the Club, event either on or off the field. The Club will diligently enforce the Code.

All Parent/Guardian(s) shall sign and agree to this policy before their child/children to be eligible to play in the 2019-2020 season.

GENERAL CODE OF CONDUCT STATEMENT

Whereas: The safety, welfare and well-being of our youth players are the primary concern and responsibility of Club.

POLICY

As a Club Independent (CI) Soccer Club parent, I will:

• Demonstrate positive sportsmanship at all team and Club events. This includes exercising positive self-control, graciously accepting the outcome of games and treating all referees/officials, coaches, parents, and players with courtesy and respect and act in a manner that will not embarrass my team or Club. Any rude or insulting comments, arguing, gestures, profanity, violence, and abuse will not be tolerated.
• Be supportive and encouraging to my child and all other players, on and off the field.
• Be respectful of all coaches, team managers, players and parents on my team and in the Club. Refrain from criticism and carry myself with dignity and exercise restraint at all team and Club events.
• Support coaches and refrain from approaching coaches during or after games and refrain from inquiries about playing time. Set an appointment with the team manager or head coach to address any questions or concerns after a 24 hour waiting period.
• Do not coach from the sidelines. Leave the coaching to the coaches.
• Refrain from abusing the referees/officials and do not approach them during or after games.
• Understand that running a team is a tremendous amount of work, so I will volunteer my time and skills to the team and Club whenever possible. Participate in fundraising events for the team and Club.
• Be responsive to team coach(es) and team managers’ requests for information. Communicate openly and address issues directly with them.
• Be welcoming to all team families on and off the field. Keep gossip and criticism of players, parents, and coaches to myself.
• Interact positively with parents of the opposing team. Set a good example for players indicating you can compete assertively and still be respectful.
• Familiarize myself with the laws of the game.
• Emphasize skill development over winning. Take time to help your child practice their skills and activities at home, including player conditioning.
• Encourage your child to have fun and enjoy their teammates and the competition.
• Refrain from the use of alcohol, illegal drugs/substances, and tobacco products (smoking and non-smoking) at all team and Club events.
• Use good judgement and will not ‘slam’ the competition, the team or Club when posting/using social media.
• Shall not conduct business in the name of CI and/or secure non-sponsored vendors without the expressed written consent and approval from the CI board.
• Comply with the rules, policies, and procedures of the team and Club.
